The Salon is my first publication which combines two of my main projects: The Salon and Bimbo Horror Stories. It juxtaposes the commercial with the clinical and the gruesome to depict a surreal reality of cosmetic surgery and the artificiality of the online beauty landscape. Issues within the social media-driven era of cosmetic perfection are discussed and unusual portraits combined with the mundane turned alien are utilized to communicate this.
